Perry Adair was the visionary of Whitfield Estates Country Club which opened on January 26, 1926 and was designed by Donald Ross.
In 1940, Whitfield Estates Country Club was renamed the North Shore Country Club as the host of the 3rd Senior PGA Championship.
In 1941, the North Shore Country Club was renamed the Sarasota Bay Country Club to reflect its proximity to Sarasota Bay.
In 1964, Sarasota Bay Country Club shortened their name to Sara Bay Country Club.
In 2006, Brian Silva restored the Sara Bay Country Club.
